Preprint and Self-Archiving Policy

Preprint Policy

Submission of a manuscript that has previously appeared on a recognised non-commercial preprint server will not automatically prevent consideration.

Authors must:

  • Declare the existence of the preprint during submission
  • Provide its identifier or citation
  • Inform the journal of material changes
  • Link the preprint to the final published Version of Record after publication

A preprint is not considered the final peer-reviewed publication.

Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit the following versions without embargo:

  • Submitted manuscript or preprint
  • Author Accepted Manuscript
  • Published Version of Record

Deposits may be made in:

  • Institutional repositories
  • Subject repositories
  • Personal academic webpages
  • Funder-designated repositories
  • Non-commercial scholarly networks

The deposited version should include the complete citation, DOI or permanent article link, and the applicable CC BY 4.0 licence.
